Congratulations and Appreciation to Anita Aaron on Her Retirement

Portrait of Anita Aaron

Dear CAABVI Members,

On behalf of the CAABVI Board of Directors, we are pleased to congratulate and thank Anita Aaron on her retirement, following five years of dedicated service as Executive Director of CAABVI and a distinguished career advancing disability services across California.

During her time with CAABVI, Anita strengthened the organization as a collaborative, statewide voice for private nonprofit agencies serving people who are blind or visually impaired. Her leadership brought agencies together around shared priorities, expanded partnerships, and elevated CAABVI’s presence with state stakeholders—leaving the organization on strong footing for the future.

Anita’s impact spans decades. She served twenty years as Executive Director of LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired in San Francisco, followed by ten years as CEO of the World Institute on Disability. Throughout her career, she has been a visionary champion for disability rights, systems change, and inclusive, community‑centered services.

As we honor Anita’s retirement, the Board is preparing for the next chapter, including beginning the search for a new Executive Director. We are grateful for the strong foundation Anita has built and recognize that her successor will have big shoes to fill.

To help shape CAABVI’s future, we invite all members to join us at the CAABVI All‑Agency Meeting on April 28th to share perspectives and contribute to this important conversation.

Please join us in congratulating Anita on her retirement and thanking her for her many years of meaningful leadership and service. We wish her all the best in her next chapter.

With sincere appreciation,
The CAABVI Board of Directors
